Angels

One of the most popular business TV shows of recent years has to be Dragon's Den. It's fascinating to watch entrepreneurs pitching their ideas to the panel of wealthy investors, hoping that they will receive an injection of cash in return for a shareholding in their venture. But it's not just the money they're after; it's the skills, contacts and access to distribution channels that the Dragons can offer them that tempts the entrepreneurs to hand over a sometimes significant slice of their business.
Whilst the likes of Peter Jones and Duncan Bannatyne, Deborah Meaden, James Caan and Richard Farley have become well-known names over the past few years, they are not the only Dragons around! Business Angels, to give them their correct name, are usually wealthy individuals who have already 'made it' in business and are now looking for another opportunity to invest in. There is an assumption that Angels are only ever looking for groundbreaking innovations, but that's not the case. It might be that your idea simply comes at an existing business model from a different angle, or maybe you have found a new way to differentiate a product or service that has been with us for years. Groundbreaking or not, could it be worth putting together a business plan and pitching at some appropriate investors?
David is well-connected with Angels who could be interested in your ideas. Bound by the confidentiality code of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales, you do not need to worry about David disclosing any of your ideas to others without your permission. Having said that, and for your peace of mind, he will sign a confidentiality agreement before entering into any discussions with you.
