Why we are different...
Our ethos is comprised of three core values that impact on everything that we do and the way that we do it. We call these the 3 C's:

Creativity starts with ideas, and accountants traditionally don’t score well here; dynamism and creative flair are not traits which usually jump out at you when you meet what some people still refer to as a ‘bean counter’. A good accountant will save you tax, but a great accountant will help you to become wealthier. There is a big difference between the two. A great accountant will become an integral part of your management team and make a demonstrable difference to your business, a lateral thinker viewing issues through both strategic and tax lenses. David has been referred to as a ‘conveyor belt of ideas’ by clients. Naturally creative and entrepreneurial by nature, he is a dynamic and inspirational character, a driver of change, unusual in being both a chartered accountant and a business strategist.
Sharing knowledge is an important component of success. By doing so, we all gain more than we give up. Each week, David sends out his 'Tips and Ideas' email to all clients, with an invitation for them to contact him to discuss anything that might be of interest. The content is broad, covering anything from tax planning ideas to marketing tips, from cost-saving ideas to new opportunities that he has spotted during the previous week. This important communication tool is recognised by clients as a 'must read' and we receive great feedback from it. This emphasis on driving ideas and encouraging clients to embrace them is a key component of being proactive.
Communication is important not only in terms of what is said, but how it is said and when. It is the ability not only to be heard, but to listen; to absorb what is going on and to understand a client’s needs. Forget the image of stuffy accountants. We’re a dynamic team, and we act like it. We’re out to turn the perception (some might say the reality) of accountants as somewhat boring and introvert on is head. With a background in training other accountants, David is a great communicator with the ability to make even the most complex issues easy to understand. This skill, combined with the up-to-the-minute tax knowledge required to present to trainee accountants of KPMG, PriceWaterhouseCoopers and Deloitte is proof indeed of David’s credentials.
On a practical note, we're all Skype-friendly, with webcams on our desktops and laptops for Skype-to-Skype video calls. No matter where you are, simply phone us (free of charge) using Skype and we'll be able to not only chat, but to see each other too. Clients are given Freepost envelopes for sending information to us and we remind all of our clients using an automatic text messaging system of impending deadlines and important dates. Whilst this is not a substitute for face to face and telephone conversations, it is a useful additional communication tool.
Care is the third core value that, we believe, defines us as the ultimately proactive firm; a genuine interest in looking after and nurturing our clients, going that extra mile to help them, to remind them of impending deadlines. ‘Going that extra mile’ is not a value that can be taught; it comes from getting the right team of people who genuinely get a buzz out of holding the hand of others. David speaks personally with all clients at least once a month, often more. Having previously been a partner in a larger firm, he has a deliberate strategy in place of limiting the number of clients we act for, in order to guarantee our incredibly high standard of care. Each relationship is special and personal; we are our clients’ “trusted advisor”.
